Short Description: Tall, dark silhouette made strange high pitched noises at the residence of the witness.

 

Date: Approximately mid-August, 2003.

Location (Prov./country) : Manitoba, Canada

Location Specifics: Approximately three quarters of the way down Broadlands Road.

Closest Town : Powerview, Manitoba.

Closest road : Broadlands Road.

Events Observed: It happened at about 01:30, 02:00 hrs. The noises started faintly, probably from far away. The noises went on for approximately 30 to 45 minutes as they got closer. It was a very high pitched sound like a coyote, but much higher. It approached my house and I could see it’s silhouette as it got closer. There was a partial moon and it was very windy that night. I estimated the height of this creature to be between 7 and 8 feet. I saw it for about 10 minutes, as it came to with-in 100 feet of my home and I could hear it breathing. It walked on two legs for the whole time I watched it. There was one light on in the living room and it cast a shadow out the window. This helped me see the creature. It left after the ten minutes and never made another sound.

 

Other eye-witnesses : None. Witness was home alone.

Other stories from region : Yes. Others have made comments about very high pitched screams in the middle of the night in that area. When sasquatch calls taken from the internet (Southern Oregon Bigfoot Society) were played for them, they said that was the terrifying sound.

 

 

 

Time / weather conditions : 01:30 to 02:00 hrs.

Surroundings : Swamp land with extremely thick willow and alder undergrowth, with the taller trees being mostly Poplar. Just on the other side of the gravel road to the east there are a lot of rock outcroppings, with white spruce, and Jack Pine. Between the outcroppings poplar covered forest.

Physical evidence left behind (hair, tracks, etc.) : Nothing visible.

Follow-up by investigator : yes / no

 

Follow-up (if yes): While writing the report another individual who lives there stated that past the bush line of the property there is nothing but unknown territory. It is wild for as far as you could ever walk. This is the east side of Lake Winnipeg. The individual also pointed out that at one time they had two dogs. They went roaming one day and both never came back. These dogs were family pets.

The witness showed me the back yard at my request. It was dark so I could not see much. The witness pointed out the shrubs it was standing by. I stood in the spot it was standing that night. The head was higher than the willow shrubs, witness said, and I could not reach the top of them. I am 5 foot 11. There will be more information to possibly come. Will plan a walk through the bush behind the property one day to investigate deeper.

As for other details, I combed the road past their property, and found a fairly tall Poplar tree snapped of at the 10 foot level. The top had green leaves on it still, so it was fresh, and the direction it fell was due west. The winds here normally blow in from the west in summer and north in winter. What made this unusual, was this tree was the only one snapped. There was a trail coming out of the bush on the other side of the road, and it continued the exact same direction as the fallen tree was pointing. Here is the picture I took during daylight hours. The trail is visible if you look real hard.

 

This again, is thought to be a directional marker made by these creatures.
